Nahum Flores

Was born in 1974 in Danli, Honduras and immigrated to Canada at age 17, after living in Mexico and the US. He studied Drawing and Painting at the Ontario College of Art and Design. In 2006, his work was selected among five other artists for the Biennale of Visual Art of Honduras. In conjunction, he participated in the Biennale of the Central America Isthmus in El Salvador. Nahum has also exhibited his work at the National Gallery of Fine Art in Tegucigalpa. Recently his painting was chosen to represent Honduras in the XIX Iberoamerican Art Salon at KatZen Museum of the American University in Washington DC. Nahum has received a grant from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a co-founder and active member of Zotz* Collective.

The artist is presenting four mixed-media works on masonite, the paintings are predominantly burnt sienna and mocha in colour. The artist uses drawings, transfers, layers of wax and resin.

Image 2: A human figure is growing out of the ground with a leaf-like arm.

Image 3: Two black birds are raising to the sky. There is a heart shaped tree between them.

Image 4: A bird is growing out of the mouth of a bandaged head which is buried underground.
